Exporting Garmin Files from Garmin Training Center for upload through Daily Log or import to WKO+

Export Single Workout From the PC version of Garmin Training Center (Works for ALL Garmin Fitness Devices)

Direct Download Options (bypass the manufacturer's software and use ours) Often a faster way, but the above data file download works with ALL GARMIN devices

Use Device Agent or WKO to download your data from your Garmin Device:

  • Install the software that came with your device, as this is what contains the drivers (small packets of software that allow your computer to "talk" to your device). Do not run the manufacturers software when trying to download from your Device to WKO+ or Device Agent, but it does need to be installed on the same computer as WKO+ or Device Agent.
  • Close all other training related software
  • Open WKO+ or Device Agent.
  • If using WKO+, open the WKO+ Home screen.
  • Connect the download cable to your computer.
  • Select the correct Training Device Type and Training Device Port (the correct port will have text mentioning "USB", "Serial", or both, in parenthesis off to the right of the com number; or it will default to the correct one that can not be changed)in the Application Settings.
  • Connect your device and turn it on.
  • If using WKO+, open your athlete profile.
  • If using WKO+, open the File menu at the top of the screen and click Training Device Download; or, if using Device Agent, click Download.
  • Click Start Downloading in the download window that appears.
  • Once the files have been extracted from the device, they will be listed by date in the Download Window. If using WKO+, make sure that the athlete profile you want to open it under is highlighted in the left hand navigation box, then double click on a file to open it in WKO+. To save the file, open the File menu and click Save As when viewing the workout file. If using Device Agent, simply follow the instructions at Device Agent
Please note that because of the granularity of the date/time we can't handle more that 20 days worth of data at once when downloading to WKO+ or Device Agent from a Garmin Device. Download often! Also, be aware that the Garmin products slowly degrade the data over time in order to make room for more data to be stored. So, again, download often (and soon). If you have downloaded past data to Garmin Training Center, you can bulk import the exported History File to WKO+ using the method described in Import_Existing_Data, our you can use the method described in Uploading Garmin files from Daily Log to export a single file at a time from Garmin Training Center and upload it to your TrainingPeaks account through the Daily Log.

You can "open" it and go to the History folder, there you will find the .tcx files of your rides. Drag the .tcx file onto WKO+ using the Import Existing Data method or Upload from Daily Log to your TrainingPeaks.com online account.
