How to Setup Your Account for the First Time

Here some step by step instructions for what we recommend you do when you first start using your account. Please note that if you are interacting with a coach, trainer, or dietitian through your account, that these recommendations may not be applicable.
1. The first thing you should do is to configure your Settings. Please note that you can always change these settings, or add to them, at a later time by following the same instructions below.
  • If you plan on uploading data from an electronic training device (like a heart rate monitor of power meter), we recommend that you go to the "Settings" drop-down menu and select "Zones", then establish your Heart Rate Zones and/or Power Zones by following the instructions found at Zones. This step is highly recommended because your Time Spent in Zones calculation will show up blank if your Zones are net set (or not set correctly).
  • If you plan on tracking your nutritional information through the [[Nutrition] portion of your account, we recommend that you go to the "Settings" drop-down menu and select "Nutrition", then establish your Nutrition Preferences by following the instructions found at Nutrition Preferences. Please note that these settings effect kCal (calorie) expenditures for workouts (for all workouts that do not have power meter file uploaded for them; uploaded power meter data allows for kCals to be calculated by the kilojoule value), meal time preferences, Daily Planned Caloric Intake, and Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR).
  • If you run and would like to track workout millage for your shoes, go to the "Settings" drop-down menu and select "Shoes", then add a pair of shoes by following the instructions found at Shoes.
  • If you cycle and would like to track workout data for your bike, go to the "Settings" drop-down menu and select "Bikes", then add a bike by following the instructions found at Bikes.
  • If you would like to track workout data for the routes that you exercise on, go to the Settings" drop-down menu and select "Routes", then add a route by following the instructions found at Routes.
2. The next thing that you should do is plan your workouts. You can accomplish this by either purchasing a Pre-Built Training Plan, using the ATP Wizard, or buy manually entering in custom workouts.
  • To learn more about the Pre-Built Training Plans, how to purchase one, and how they work, go to Pre-Built Training Plans.
  • To learn more about the ATP Wizard and how it works, go to ATP Wizard.
3. The next thing that you should do is plan out your meals. You can accomplish this by either purchasing a Pre-Built Meal Plan or by manually entering in your planned meals.
4. With steps 1-3 you have setup the Planning side of things, so now lets look at he recording side of things.
5. Once you have started to record information, you can begin to look at the monitoring side of things.
