What is the Meal Log?

The Meal Log is where you record your day-to-day meals. You can also use it to plan future meals. To get started, simply select the type of meal you wish to add to your log, then choose either "Add as Planned" or "Add as Consumed". The "Add as Planned" button adds the meal to your Meal Log as if it is a meal that you are planning to eat in the future. If you work with a coach or dietitian, they may plan your meals for you. Or, as an individual user, you may wish to plan future meals, to do this, use the "Add as Planned" button. Once you have consumed the meal, simply click the "Log Checked Foods" button to indicate that you have now consumed the meal. We have extensive Plan vs. Actual reporting and you'll be able to keep track of how well you are following a prescribed or intended diet. If you simply want to record meals after you have consumed them, then use the "Add as Consumed" button to log them directly to your Meal Log. Planned Meals are not actually "logged" and they won't affect your reports on how much you have eaten as long as they still show in green, indicating they are simply planned.

Tips for Meal Logging

After you add a meal, there are several ways to add details to it.

  • You can simply give the meal a label like "Burger King #2 with Diet Coke"
  • Click the "+" icon to expand the meal information and add a description or comments and estimate caloric and macro-nutrient values
  • For the most detailed and accurate reporting, click the Meal Manager button to search our extensive database of foods and add them to your meal, this way, you'll have full nutrient data for your meals. We have many handy features like food favorites and common menu's from several restaurants available in the Meal Manager.
  • Use the Express Meal Wizard to add Meal Templates. To create Meal Templates, click Meal Manager and you'll see a button at the top labeled "Save as Template". This allows you to save meals as a template so you can add that meal to your log with a single click the next time you eat it.
  • You can also quickly add Meals to your Log via the Meal Calendar.. this is a different view that allows rapid meal planning by giving you instant access to your Meal Templates via the Express Meal Wizard.
